Meatless balls & Spaghetti



Meatless balls & Spaghetti
Recipe type: Mains
  • Spaghetti (to serve)
Meatless balls:
  • 415 g can of nutmeat (Vegie delights)
  • 140 g apple puree
  • 1 tablespoon of dry mixed herbs
  • ½ cup dry breadcrumbs
  • Salt & pepper to season
  • 700g passata
  • 1 tablespoon rice malt (or you could use agave)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dry basil
  • 1 teaspoon dry oregano
  • Pinch of pepper
  • Chili flakes for heat (optional)
Meatless balls:
  1. Preheat oven to 180oC. Lightly oil a baking tray
  2. Put nutmeat through a food processor to create a mince
  3. Tip into large bowl & add all other ingredients & use your hands to combine
  4. Roll small portions in your hand to create meatless balls
  5. Place on the tray & bake for 30 minutes occasionally moving about
  6. Make sauce
  1. Stir together the passata, salt, pepper, rice malt, basil and oregano (& chili flakes) in a saucepan & heat gently over a low to medium heat
  2. Add meatless balls to keep warm
  3. Cook spaghetti to packet instructions, serve with meatless balls & sauce
